5 Night Italian Cooking Holidays - 5 nights / 6 days

Convivio Rome Italian Cooking Holiday

5 nights/ 6 day programme  ( arrival day varies)

Day 1: -  Afternoon: - Arrive

Evening: Welcome dinner at 8.00pm. This is a relaxed and informal dinner, held in a family taverna or restaurant, during which you can discover the unique flavours of traditional food from Sabina, as well as sample some of the best local wines. During dinner, Sally or Guido will give you a brief outline of your holiday.

Day 2:

Breakfast: Italian style taken on the café patio while enjoying majestic views over the Sabine Hills.

Morning: Lesson # 1  + lunch. Italian cooking tips and secrets about regional dishes are revealed while preparing a three course meal using only what's in season.

Afternoon: Guided tour of an olive grove with Guido, where you will learn all about the ancient art of olive oil making, followed by olive oil sampling with bruschetta while overlooking majestic views of Sabina.

Evening: Dinner can be enjoyed at a local 'ristorante' , or home catering can be arranged for you.

Day 3:

Breakfast: Italian style taken on the café patio while enjoying majestic views over the Sabine Hills.

Morning: Lesson # 2 + lunch. Our enthusiastic pasta expert starts a cooking lesson with making fresh pasta out of eggs and flour. Pasta sauces and the importance of fresh ingredients, herbs and balance are discussed. More secrets are revealed to create a mouth-watering three course lunch. 

Afternoon: (optional) informal guided tour to visit the largest olive tree in Europe followed by a stroll around the nearby medieval village of 'Fara in Sabina'  OR you are free to relax.

Evening: Dinner can be enjoyed at a local 'ristorante', or home catering can be arranged for you.

 Day 4:

Breakfast: Italian style taken on the café patio while enjoying majestic views over the Sabine Hills.

Morning: Lesson # 3 - Wine appreciation + lunch.

We are off to an award-winning vineyard where a wide range of wines, both red and white, are produced from local grapes. We sample the wines with local food, while learning about the art of wine making. After the tour to the winery we offer you a light lunch, where we sample local pecorino cheeses, cured meats, olive oil on wood fired oven bread and more Sabina wines.

Afternoon: An informal tour around the streets of the monastic village of Farfa ('L'Abbazia di Farfa') with its amazing 15th c. frescoed church, and numerous art and craft shops including locally hand woven cloths OR free time.

Evening: Dinner can be enjoyed at a local 'ristorante', or home catering can be arranged for you.

 Day 5:

Breakfast: Italian style taken on the café patio while enjoying majestic views over the Sabine Hills.

Free day: to do as you please, at your own leisure. For example, you can take one of the beautiful local country walks and stop for a picnic lunch. Or, you can take a bus to one of the many local villages, or spend the day in Rome: we can help you plan your itinerary.

Final evening: Wine tasting evening and light dinner with food & wine editor Guido Santi. This is an informal evening during which you’ll learn about different Italian wines and the wonderful native grapes that are grown in the region.

 Day 6: Depart after breakfast with hopes you will return soon.

Afternoon: guided tour of the ancient monastic village of Farfa (including art and craft shops) or explore medieval Toffia.

Evening: Dinner can be enjoyed at a local 'ristorante' , or home catering can be arranged for you.

 Day 4: Depart after breakfast, with hopes you will return soon.

One Day Convivio Rome Italian cooking-touring experience  10.00 am arrival - 4.30 pm departure

One Day Convivio Rome cooking-touring programme

Morning: Pick-up at local train station at 10.00 am. Enjoy the beautiful drive through rolling hills and olive groves on your way to visit a medieval village, Castelnuovo. After a brief stroll around the cobbled streets of this enchanting, historic hilltop town , we will take you to our nearby family home in the spectacular Sabine Hills, where your cooking lesson will be held.

Cooking lesson  + lunch with local wine. Italian cooking tips and secrets about regional dishes are revealed while preparing a three course meal using only what's in season. Enjoy your lunch on our family terrace overlooking olive groves, medieval hilltop villages and monasteries.

Free local station pick up service

Train from Rome: We will send you detailed & easy to follow instructions on how to get to your pick up point. It is very easy to take this direct modern train from anywhere in Rome (or the main Rome airport) to Fara Sabina station, where we will meet you and return you to at the end of your day out. Train departures are generally every 15 minutes. The train journey is about 40 minutes.

Train tickets cost from €2.60 to €2.90  Euros, one way, from Rome.

Afternoon: Informal guided tour around the stunning hilltop medieval village of Farfa with its winding cobbled roads and hidden piazzas, secret passage ways and intricately carved stone archways. The monastic village of Farfa ('L'Abbazia di Farfa') contains an amazing 15th c. frescoed church and numerous art and craft shops, including locally hand woven cloths.

 Evening: 4.30 or 5.00 pm: Return to local train station.

Half Day Convivio Rome Olive Oil Tour - 9.30 am arrival, 12.30 pm departure

Half Day Rome Olive Oil Tour programme with Convivio Rome

Morning: Pick-up at local train station at 9.30 am. Enjoy the beautiful drive through rolling hills, past olive groves and medieval villages on your way to visit the 'Largest Olive Tree in Europe', also called 'L'Olivone'. We stop here to admire this natural 2000 year old monument that is still producing olives. We continue this tour by taking you to a local olive grove where we discuss and taste quality Sabina D.O.P extra virgin olive oil and sample local bread, salami and cheeses with a glass of wine while admiring the stunning countryside.

12.30 pm: After a wonderful morning learning about the ancient art of olive oil making, what makes the local Sabina extra virgin olive oil so good, and then sampling this Sabina Olive Oil in the wonderful setting of the Roman Countryside, we will return you to the local station to catch your train back to Rome.
